I’ve been seeing loads of this recipe on Pinterest and also several other blogs. They are calling it in several names; bloomin onion bread, pull-apart bread, flaming hedgehog….They were raving about how good it was so I thought I’d test that theory. Although it was more of an excuse to use up some leftovers (I had half a loaf of bread left and also some hot Italian sausage meat) I concocted my own mix to stuff into the bread.
It was smelling very good coming out of the oven and it looked so appetizing.
I don’t know how anyone can eat this as accompaniment because it was rather filling, maybe a nice bowl of salad would do but oh….this is like a cheese junkie’s paradise. Maybe a little OTT but still, it satisfies. 🙂
PULL-APART BREAD WITH 3 CHEESES RECIPE
A short loaf, (road or oval)
Garlic butter, (I had some I made myself, just grated garlic into butter)
Hot Italian sausage meat, a small handful
1. Sautee the sausage meat in some olive oil. Let it cool.
2. Prep your bread. Lay a piece of foil and a piece of baking paper on top of the foil. Place your bread in the middle. Cut horizontally with a serrated knife, if your knife isn’t sharp enough to cut the squares vertically, I just used a pair of kitchen scissors and made the squares.
3. When your garlic butter is soft enough to handle but not room temp, mix in the cooked sausage meat and some chopped parsley.
4. Use you hands and just stuff the butter-sausage mixture into the cracks of the bread. Make sure you cover all the nooks and crannys.
5. Top the bread off with some grated cheddar and mozarella. Wrap it up and tuck in the sides.
6. Bake in a pre-heated relatively low heat at first about 160C for 30 mins and then open the foil to expose the top and broil it at 180C for 5 – 10 mins, till the cheese has browned.
7. Eat as itself or as an accompaniment.
